The Atherton LR 'B' side which met Turton consisted of some Reserve players along with no less that eight players from LR's Junior sides. On paper, the more experienced Turton side, which contained a number of ex-LR players, were clear favourites against the youngsters from Atherton. At first Turton tried to physically intimidate the young lads, but soon found the Atherton side could give as good as they got. An excellent performance by the Atherton side which gave hope for the future.
