Congleton Town v LR HT 0 - 2 FT 1 - 2

Ken Quigg and Paul Kirwan returned after a period of suspension and Atherton opened the scoring in the 13th minute when Andy Noone went through the Congleton defence and passed to Mark Stewart who had only to put the ball in from six yards out. Congleton pressed for an equaliser and came close through John Scarlett, but Andy Hills pulled off a brilliant save. In the 25th minute Atherton went 2-0 up after some good work between Andy Feeley and Quigg allowed Andy Noone to run through the defence to fire a great shot into the bottom corner of the net.
The second half was only three minutes old when Atherton conceded a penalty as Darrel Dicken was brought down and Graham Harrison scored the spot kick. The home side then applied great pressure on the Laburnums defence, but on the occasions they managed to break through they found Andy Hills in top form. LR only attacked on the break. Andy Noone was sent off in the 70th minute for remarks made to a linesman and Congleton stepped up a gear to take advantage. However, Atherton defended in numbers and managed to survive until the end of the game.

Worksop Town v LR HT 0 - 1 FT 1 - 1

Atherton started well with Jimmy Evans and Ken Quigg both coming close from corner kicks and Dave Liptrott shot wide when put through by Quigg. Worksop came into the game more as time went on, especially through Lee Howard who was causing the Laburnums defence all sorts of problems. However, Atherton opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Quigg was brought down in the area. Paul Burrows scored the penalty.

Worksop came out for the second half determined to equalise and Lee Howard missed a golden opportunity to score. Atherton kept pressing and Liptrott had a goal disallowed because of a foul by Mark Stewart.  Worksop equalised in the 60th minute with a great move, Lee Howard ran past the Laburnums defence and put in a perfect cross for Linden Whitehead to head home.  The game was now being played at a furious pace and both sides had the chance to win. Liptrott headed just over from a Stewart corner and Worksop's Howard missed another good chance. Andy Hills was forced to make a great save from Harris and Tony Pemberton headed the ball off the line when a goal seemed certain. Atherton had two mmore strong penalty claims turned down. Firstly when Andy Noone was hauled down in the area and in the last minute a Worksop defender handled the ball from a corner. Everyone in the ground either appealed or groaned, but the referee missed the offence.

LR v Netherfield HT 1 - 0 FT 1 - 2

Atherton started strongly, Jim Evans and Dave Liptrott coming close. Netherfield's Dave Smith forced a good save from Andy Hills, but in the 35th minute Atherton opened the scoring. A Mark Stewart free kick was headed in by Stuart Humphreys. Netherfield almost snatched an equaliser, but were again foiled by Hills.
Early in the second half Hills was called on again to make a good save. On a heavy pitch, play began to deteriorate and became a midfield slog. With ten minutes remaining Netherfield equalised when Gavin Boyd headed home a corner kick when he was left totally unmarked. With the game coming to an end and everyone expecting a draw, Netherfield were awarded a free kick and Jason Kerfoot smashed in a shot from 20 yards to give the visitors all three points.
