Photos from Tempest United v Ramsbottom United

Quite a dull first half with neither keeper called on, other than to keep on their toes. A lot of hard work but both defences were on top. Ramsbottom looked the stronger of the two sides but Mark Allen in the Tempest goal wasn't troubled.

Ramsbottom came out for the second half fired up and after just five minutes took the lead when Matthew Kay hit a strike from the edge of the area which curled in at the far post. Three minutes later Richard Dunn added the second. Allen made three or four excellent saves to keep Ramsbottom out, including a brilliant double save. The game went downhill a bit for quarter of an hour but on 78 minutes Ramsbottom added a third when Allen saved a shot with his feet on the edge of his area and Dean Thurston was first to react to hit the loose ball past the keeper and in. Andy Sensale hit a strike from the edge of the box on 81 minutes to make it 4-0 and on the stroke of time, Sensale chased a through ball and scored from a tight angle. Tempest never really tested John Ogden in the Ramsbottom goal and only looked likely to score after the late arrival of a substitute who caused problems for Ramsbottom on the right wing.
