Danny joined LR over the summer months, initially intending to be part of the Under 17's team. He wanted to be captain and have the number 10 shirt and his regular light hearted pleas earned him the nick-name "Wannabe".

It was quickly apparent that Danny was a talented young man and he was picked up for the reserve team where he easily filled the role required of him. His ability also came to the notice of the first team managers and at just 16 years old Danny figured as a substitute four times and in the starting line up once, at St Helens Town. The two big highlights for him were playing in the FA Cup at Goole and the moment in the tunnel at St Helens, just before running out onto the pitch.

On Sunday 18th September, Danny played for the Under 17's and scored for the team. Moments later he collected the ball on the left side and made a crossfield pass to Corey Brown on the right. Naturally, most people followed the ball but when they looked back, Danny had collapsed and despite the efforts of club officials, the emergency services and the hospital, nothing could be done to save him.

He will always be remembered as a bright, bubbly young man who touched everyone he met and he will never be forgotten by anyone at the club

Tributes soon started to appear and below are photographs of the tributes and of the players of LR and Maine Road, along with the match officials, giving a minutes silence in memory of Danny. Click on the thumbnails to see bigger pictures but be warned that I've left the photos quite large so if you use dial-up to access the internet, they may take a while to appear.
